The Mayor’s Trophy Sailing Regatta on Lake Como
The 11th edition of the Mayor’s Trophy sailing regatta starts at 8.30 am on Sunday, October 2.
Around 30 boats will compete in this year’s race which starts from the town of Lecco on Lake Como.
The Mayor’s Trophy race counts towards the 2011 Lombardy, Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta Area Championship and will increase the winning team’s chance of victory in the Italian Sailing Federation’s “Europe” class.
The Mayor’s Trophy race has been organised by the Società Canottieri Lecco – Lecco Rowing Club every year since the club was founded in 1895.
In addition to sailing, the club offers its members opportunities to practice sporting activities such as canoeing, swimming, tennis, table tennis and, above all, rowing – the activity that led to the founding of the club over 115 years ago.
Lecco Rowing Club has been affiliated to Italy’s National Rowing Federation since it was founded as the Royal Italian Rowing Federation in the late nineteenth century.
