The Lake Maggiore Marathon
The first ever official Lake Maggiore Marathon takes place on Sunday, October 16, 2011.
The marathon course runs from the town of Arona to the finish line 26 miles away in Verbania. For most of the course, runners will follow the scenic lakeside SS 33 road, which means that both runners and spectators alike will be enveloped Lake Maggiore‘s spectacular surroundings.
Although in its first edition, the Lake Maggiore Marathon has already attainted recognition as an international competition and participants will qualify for the Piedmont Regional Championships series.
The race is also an occasion for fund raising for national and local level charities. Six charitable associations have been involved in setting up and organising the race and donations in support of them can be made in a number of different ways.
