Lake Como Film Festival
Lake Como is one of most beautiful places in the world and this is the reason why many great directors, captivated by the appeal of Lake Como have immortalised this wonderful corner of paradise in their films ( just to name some Ocean’s Twelwe, Rocco and his brothers , What a lovely day, Star Wars)
Many celebrities too have fallen in love with Lake Como and have invested buying a property on the shores of this beautiful Italian Lake either to spend some time in a relaxing and friendly environment or to make it as their full time home when not away for work.
In connection with cinema, the first edition of Lake Como Film Festival will kick off in July, an event promoted and organized by the Lake Como Film Festival cultural association.
The festival will take place from 15 to 25 July at Villa Olmo, although there will be other manifestations that will start before. On the first of July “Cinema Gardens”with take place, a travel itinerary through the popular film locations including Villa Erba in Cernobbio, Villa Balbianello in Lenno, Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo and Hotel Serbelloni.
The actual Lake Como film festival will start on July 15 and will devote seven nights to outdoor film screenings that will be anticipated and followed by a series of meetings with directors, actors and screenwriters. Main theme will be the landscape; landscape and cinema have been in fact inextricably linked since the earliest days of film and it will be discussed how landscape has occupied an important function in cinema, from background element to protagonist.
There will be also another festival dedicated to natural landscapes that will take place at the same time (15th – 25th) at Villa del Grumello. There will be 7 documentaries focused on landscapes and one will be devoted to Lake Como. This year’s edition is part of a program that will be completed in 2015 in occasion of the next World Expo that will take place in Milan and aims to insert Lake Como in the expo system hoping that it will bring together many visitors to our our beautiful lake.
