The “ Palio Remiero del Lario ” is a traditional rowing race across Lake Como that attracts teams from around Lombardy, who come to take part in the grueling competition of Lucie, the traditional rowing boat from Lake Como. This competition has been organised for more than 50 years and is still today one of the most anticipated events involving 20 villages of Lake Como…. a real spectacle where the entire lake become extremely competitive!

The “Lucia” is the boat that more than any other attracts the attention of those who arrive at Lake Como.  The origins of this boat are dated between 1500 and 1600. Flat-bottomed boat, robust and easy to handle, was designed and built for fishing but also for the transport of persons and small goods.

It’s a beautiful sight to see the old –fashioned boats floating peacefully across the lake at sunset. Afterwards there are celebrations and a small festival in the main square.

This year the competition will take place on 24th August in Tremezzo, starting from 2.30 pm.
